Writing a book?

Writing a book is an adventure. To begin with, it is a toy and an amusement; then it becomes a mistress, and then it becomes a master, and then a tyrant. The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster, and fling him out to the public.” Winston Churchillcat-and-mouse

  1. I can really relate to this one since I’ve been working on a children’s book for 2 years now! I feel like in the ‘reconciled to servitude’ stage.

  2. I found it fascinating that Dr. Seuss whose writing and drawing expressed such lightness and playful flow was a very heavy drinker and compulsive smoker…and also continously reviewed his work with criticsm and discontent.

  3. Papa: I didn’t know that about Dr. Suess. We humans are a very complicated species aren’t we? Life is such a balancing act.

I love Dr. Suess’s work and am happy for his contribution to children’s reading. Do you have more info about his life on your site?

  4. rahmama,

There are a series of 8 U Tube videos on Dr. Seuss’ life…I have the first 4 on my blog “Wisdom of Dr. Seuss” with the balance in my Vodpod site reached by clicking the link at the bottom of the posted of Dr Seuss videos posted in the sidebar.
